Layover day in Munising

Tuesday, June 6 -- Layover day in Munising, Michigan

Not much to report today, other than it was COLD. The overnight low was 40 degrees and the high today was 51. The sun shone most of the day, which was nice, but still it was COLD. We did chores on the boat, including a variety of electronic chores, made two trips to the hardware store to get what we needed to rig a fishing pole, bought some newspapers with puzzles to work on, and did some cleaning on the boat. That was about it for the day, besides going into town for lunch and dinner. But it takes a lot of energy to survive these brutal temperatures!

Here is a picture of the one traffic light in Munising. We had lunch at Eh! Burger (on the right) and it was good, but pricey. Grand Island is in the far background with the marina in between the two.

After a lazy afternoon we walked 3/4 mile to Tracy's at the Roam Inn for a first class dinner.

There was a nice view across the street from Tracy's of the Pictured Rocks in the far distance beyond the high school.

Along our walk we saw some examples of UP lawn art...

And on the walk home from dinner, when we were nearly freezing to death, we saw people lined up at the Dairy Queen. It was only 48 degrees according to the bank sign. Go figure.

Some people just need to have their DQ fix no matter the temperature!

  1. As a hearty (transplant) New Englander, I can say that no temperatures will keep us away from ice cream!
